The 13th International Seminar of the European Palliative Care Research Centre (PRC) took place in Zurich, Switzerland February 1st-2nd 2024

Each year PRC organize a two-day research seminar, with the aim of presenting the newest research within the area and to facilitate networking and collaboration. This year’s seminar included sessions where several EU projects were presented, as well as technologies in palliative care, symptom management and patient-centred care, and the future of palliative care medicine and research.

Vickie Baracos held the GW Hanks lecture in honor of Geoffrey Warren Hanks, a British palliative care specialist who served as Honorary President of the European Association for Palliative Care. The lecture was titled “Past, present and future of cachexia research and implications for the clinic”.

Preceding the seminar, a pre-seminar was held on January 31st. At the pre-seminar, PhDs, PostDocs and junior researchers presented their projects to discuss with senior discussants within the field of palliative care.
